FLEET: Nabors Alaska operates more than twice as many rigs as any other drilling contractor. The company’s fleet includes both land and offshore rigs, all designed for harsh environment drilling.

EXPERIENCE: Nabors drilled the first commercial oilwell in Alaska and has nearly five decades of experience in the region. In 1968, Nabors Alaska drilled both the discovery well and the confirmation well in the giant Prudhoe Bay oilfield. The company also drilled the only well to date in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

INNOVATION: Nabors Alaska has a long history of innovation. The company pioneered pad drilling in 1975 and constructed the first wheel-mounted rig specifically for this type of operation. Many of the techniques developed by the company are still used on pad drilling projects in Alaska and other parts of the world. Nabors also assumed a leadership role in extended-reach drilling with the completion of a well drilled from a shore base to a location four miles offshore in Cook Inlet.

SAFETY: Nabors Alaska has one of the best safety records in the industry. During the last year, the company did not experience a single lost-time accident and the recordable incident rate declined from three per 200,000 man-hours worked to one.
